Renovation
What began as a straightforward reclad of this beachfront holiday home quickly developed into a much more substantial renovation.
Once the existing cladding was removed, we uncovered extensive corrosion in the structural steel. With the home exposed to a harsh coastal environment, the damage needed to be properly addressed before the project could move forward.
As soon as the issue was identified, we worked closely with the homeowners to explain what we had found, discuss the implications and put a clear plan in place. The compromised structural steel, framing and joinery on the affected side of the home were removed, with the building carefully propped while new zinc-sprayed structural steel was installed.
While the additional work was not part of the original scope, the project is a good example of the importance of being adaptable during a renovation, particularly when working with existing beachfront homes.
Through clear communication and careful coordination, we were able to respond to what was uncovered and move forward with a solution designed to give this much-loved holiday home a strong foundation for the future.
